Mr. Bethea was a true icon and business man in the Dillon community for many years. He and my father, Fitzgerald, businesses neighbored each other for several years in the City of Dillon. I am thankful for the example he set for small business owners in my hometown. To the Bethea Family, please accept our deepest condolences and our prayers at this time.

To the Bethea Family: We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Major. He was truly a trailblazer for many of us that grew up in Dillon and the state of South Carolina. His example as a professional black businessman was a great inspiration and motivation to us all. May God comfort and keep you in perfect peace, and remember the he is "Absent from his body and is present with the Lord".
Sincerely,
Jesse Smutherman Jr and Family. Rowlett, Texas
