My condolences to the Dunbar Family, especially Leland's children and grandchildren. I grew up with Leland and knew his family well. I recall the countless hours as kids when we would go to the basketball court early in the morning and play until the sun went down in the evening.

As we grow and our lives take different paths with our families we oftentimes lose track of those who have helped shape our individuality. This doesn't mean that we are not connected from the bonds we shared in our young and early adult life. In fact, those experiences we shared made those bonds stronger and lifelong.

Our little tight knit community, however it was viewed by outsiders, gave us all a sense of caring and commitment to one another. I considered Leland a brother and that will never change. I knew he was battling cancer and other health issues over these past few years. Although it had been some time since I spoke with Leland we stay connected through social media. Good or bad it is communicating.

My wife & I have kept Leland in our prayers and we are confident he is now resting safely in the arms of the Lord and at the same time reunited with his mom & dad.

To his children and grandchildren, I know this is a difficult time in your life, I've been here myself. Stay grounded in the Lord, I find prayer and an intimate relationship with Christ Jesus to be of great comfort in troubling times.

One of my favorite Books of The Bible is Revelations and I always find this verse to be of great comfort:
Revelations 21:4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Believe that Leland has found that place John talked about in Revelations and he is no longer in pain or suffering.

May the Peace of The Lord be with each of you always.
